Thomasina Rogers Designated Acting Chairman
Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission

On February 17, 2009, President Barack Obama designated Thomasina V. Rogers as Acting Chairman of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission. She began her service on the Review Commission in 1998, after being appointed by President Clinton and confirmed by the U.S. Senate. She previously served as Chairman from June 1999 to September 2002.

In a statement, Acting Chairman Rogers stated:

I am extremely honored that President Obama has designated me to serve as Acting Chairman of the Review Commission. In my 30 years of government service, both as a political appointee and as a member of the career staff of three executive agencies, I have never been more proud.

A safer workplace through the fair application of the statute we administer is a goal that must always remain squarely in our viewfinder. Our nation of workers and employers deserves that much.

I wish to thank Commissioner Thompson for his leadership as Chairman, for his spirit of collegiality and for his commitment to the work of the Commission. I also wish to thank the dedicated agency staff whose contributions make our successes possible.

Prior to joining the Review Commission, Ms. Rogers chaired the Administrative Conference of the United States and was Legal Counsel to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She is a graduate of Northwestern University and Columbia University School of Law.
