James J. Sullivan, Jr. Sworn-In As OSHRC Commissioner

James J. Sullivan, Jr. was sworn-in today as Commissioner of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission. Mr. Sullivan was nominated by President Trump to fill a term expiring April 27, 2021 and was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate on August 3, 2017. He fills the seat previously held by former Chairman Thomasina V. Rogers.

Prior to joining the Review Commission, Mr. Sullivan was a shareholder with Cozen O'Connor with a practice focused on labor and employment law and workplace safety and heath matters. He recently completed a term as the management co-chair of the American Bar Association Committee on Occupational Safety and Health Law and, previously in his career, was a partner at Pepper Hamilton and a shareholder at Buchanan Ingersoll and Rooney. From 2000 to 2002, Mr. Sullivan served as Vice-President of Labor and Employment Law and Deputy General Counsel for Comcast.

Upon his being sworn in as Commissioner, Mr. Sullivan stated, "I am honored to be appointed by the President to serve as a Commissioner on the Review Commission and to have the opportunity to bring my experience to this significant agency in public service to our country. I look forward to working with Chairman MacDougall and Commissioner Attwood."

Mr. Sullivan received a B.A. from the Pennsylvania State University and a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.

The Review Commission is an independent Federal agency tasked with adjudicating disputes under the Occupational Safety and Health Act between the Department of Labor, employers, and employees arising from contested workplace safety inspections.
