On August 4, 2016, an employee of Southern Hens, Inc. (Southern Hens) sustained a severe laceration to her thumb when it became caught in the drive mechanism of the machine she was cleaning. She lost a portion of her thumb as a result. Following the incident, the Jackson, Mississippi, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Area Office conducted an inspection of the facility.
