Jonathan Snare sworn in as OSHRC Chairman

Jonathan Snare was sworn in on November 24, 2025 as Chairman of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission. Chairman Snare, who was confirmed as a Commissioner by the U.S. Senate on October 7, 2025, was elevated to Chairman by President Donald J. Trump on November 20, 2025.

Prior to his appointment to the Commission in November 2025, Chairman Snare was appointed as Acting Solicitor/Deputy Solicitor of Labor on February 24, 2025, and served in that role until joining the Commission. Before that, he was a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP in the labor/employment practice group from 2009 to 2024 where his practice largely focused on workplace safety and health matters. Chairman Snare also served in several roles at the Department of Labor between 2003-2009, including Acting Assistant Secretary for OSHA and Deputy Assistant Secretary, as well as Deputy Solicitor of Labor and Acting Solicitor of Labor in 2007. Prior to joining the Labor Department in 2003, he was in private law practice in Dallas, Texas. A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Chairman Snare earned his law degree from Washington & Lee University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia.

Upon his designation by the President, Chairman Snare stated, “I am honored to be named by the President to serve as Chairman of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission and grateful for the opportunity to lead this agency and its dedicated staff. I also look forward to securing a quorum of Commissioners to enable the Commission to fully serve its important adjudicatory mission.”
