Judge William S. Coleman Joins the Review Commission

Judge William S. Coleman has joined the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission as an administrative law judge in its Washington, DC office. Most recently, he served as an administrative law judge with the Social Security Administration’s Madison, Wisconsin Office of Disability Adjudication and Review.

Judge Coleman served for over a decade as an administrative law judge with the Wisconsin Division of Hearing and Appeals, where he heard cases originating from various state agencies including the Department of Natural Resources, Department of Public Instruction, and Department of Regulation and Licensing. Before becoming an administrative law judge, he held staff attorney positions with the Appellate Division of the Wisconsin Public Defender, the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, South Carolina Court of Appeals, and South Carolina Supreme Court. He was also engaged in private law practice for a number of years in South Carolina.

A retired member of the U.S. Army Reserve with 30 years of commissioned service, Judge Coleman stated that he is, "excited about continuing his service as an administrative law judge in furtherance of the important work of the Commission."

Judge Coleman received his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina and his undergraduate degree from Davidson College. He is a member of the South Carolina and Wisconsin bars.
